Metabolic Magic: How Stem Cells Contribute to Healing Chronic Metabolic Conditions

Metabolic conditionsย can take a toll on nearly every aspect of the body. Because metabolic conditions prevent the cells in your body from getting the energy and nutrients they need, they can make it exceedingly difficult to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Fortunately, stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine are promising new fields for patients with metabolic conditions. Hereโ€™s what to know about metabolic conditions and how stem cells can help.

Types of Metabolic Conditions

Metabolic conditions can affect many different areas of the body, but the impact of a metabolic condition can be universal. Some of the most common include:

  • Diabetes type IIย affects the production of insulin, an essential component in transferring energy into your cells. People with type II diabetes have difficulty secreting enough insulin or responding to it.
  • Chronic kidney diseaseย affects theย ability of theย kidneys to filter waste from the blood.ย When waste builds up in the blood, it can cause significant health problems and even lead to kidney failure.
  • Liver diseaseย is typically the result of scarring or damage to the liver from alcohol use, autoimmune diseases, or infection. A poorly functioning liver can no longer filter toxins from the body, break down fats, or metabolize medications.
  • Thyroid conditionsย can negatively impact the bodyโ€™s ability to produce hormones and regulate many otherย importantย systems.ย The thyroid may produce too manyย hormonesย or too few.

Metabolic Condition Symptoms

Metabolic conditions can produceย a variety ofย symptoms specific to the area affected, but commonย symptoms across all metabolic conditions include overweight and obesity, specifically weight circumference. In many cases, metabolic conditions donโ€™t produce any noticeable symptomsย at allย in the early stages.

Managing Metabolic Conditions with Stem Cells

Traditionally, metabolic conditions often involve hands-on care from your healthcare team. It mayย involveย supplementing insulin or hormones to support your body or directly performing therapies like dialysis. In some cases, transplantation surgery is needed to achieve the best longevity. Understandably, most patients strongly prefer to avoid these options.

Stem cell therapy is a promising new area because it can help repair and regenerate the affected organs and systems in metabolic conditions. For example, it may create new cells in the liver or pancreas to repair function and allow the body to function as needed again. Restoring the health of the organโ€™s tissues canย allowย it to create hormones or perform its intended function to a better degree. For many patients, this can help lessen the involvement of their care and allow them better freedom in their day-to-day lives.

Quarantine 15

When COVID-19 first hit, nearly every American was stuck in their house under quarantine. Because of this, most people fell off of their typical diets or exercise routines and gained some extra unwanted weight. While things are starting to open back up in most states, it still may be a struggle to gain back your motivation and lose the Quarantine 15. Supporting your body with proven supplements such as CLA can boost your ability to lose weight and strengthen muscle.

What Is CLA?

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a naturally occurring fatty acid found in meat and dairy products. Because the human body canโ€™t produce CLA, we can only get it through our diet or supplements in order to reap the benefits. It is also a popular dietary supplement that is sold with claims of helping people lose fat, maintain weight loss, and retain lean muscle mass.

Benefits of CLA

Supplementing your diet and exercise program with CLA daily has been clinically proven to improve body composition. It has been scientifically shown to improve lean muscle tone, enhance diet, and support metabolism. Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, is when plaque builds up in the arteries. This is a risk factor for heart disease. One 2018 study on obese mice suggested that taking CLA supplements could protect against atherosclerosis. Additionally, individuals who get a lot of CLA from foods or take CLA supplements are at a lower risk of various diseases, including type 2 diabetes and cancer.

Where Can I Find CLA?

The Axis Wellness Store offers a wide variety of high-quality supplements. Our Detox & Burn section includes our advanced ClearVite-CLA supplement. This supplement contains collagen-based protein and targeted amino acids that are intended to support the intestines, liver detoxification, and sugar metabolism. Hydrolyzed collagen, a hypoallergenic protein source, may support the gastrointestinal function and muscular system, as well as skin, hair, nail, and joint health.

With over 5 grams of targeted amino acids as protein replacement, ClearVite-CLA supports individuals on any and all diets. For healthy individuals, this supplement supports a normal blood sugar balance and also offers support for the gastrointestinal and immune systems.

Everything to Know About Peptides

Peptides are one increasingly popular treatment option in regenerative medicine. With the right approach, they have the potential to rewrite body chemistry and produce a wide variety of positive trends in the body. A number of peptides have been approved by the FDA, so hereโ€™s what to know about peptides and how they can help your treatment approach.

What are Peptides?

Peptides are chains of amino acids. Theyโ€™re linked together in a specific process to produce a protein. The body uses these proteins as signaling molecules facilitating the cell-to-cell communication and allowing the body to switch certain cell functions on or off. This property can be harnessed and used to trigger specific therapeutic effects. Some peptides are naturally occurring and others can be artificially synthesized in the laboratory.

What is Peptide Therapy?

While our bodies naturally produce peptides, the production of peptides in individuals can vary greatly. We generally see a decline in our bodiesโ€™ production of peptides as we age. This is where peptide therapy comes in.ย

Peptide therapy is the targeted use of peptides to produce a specific reaction in the body. The peptides we prefer to focus on are Thymosin beta-4, which accelerates wound healing and increases metastatic potential of tumor cells. A peptide called Thymosin alpha-1 can modulate the immune system and is used for the treatment of various diseases. Another peptide we focus on isย  BPC-157, which heightens the healing of many different types of tissue like tendons, muscles, and the nervous system.ย

Cerebrolysin is another peptide that is being used more often because of its ability to enhance certain brain functions. When used in treatment, cerebrolysin has been proven to improve short and long term memory, enhance creativity, and increase motivation.

Benefits of Peptide Therapy

Peptide therapy is a safe and effective treatment option that doesnโ€™t have any major side effects. Peptide therapy is not a magic therapy for all ailments, but it does help significantly with many different conditions and symptoms. It works best in conjunction with other treatments you may be receiving currently. Itโ€™s a good way to improve your overall wellness without trying different treatments and having to go through extensive procedures. At its most basic, itโ€™s a simple way to get healthier with benefits like wound healing, treatment for diseases, better sleep, increase in muscle mass, weight loss, increased sex drive, overall improved mood, and a slowed aging process.

Bachelor Star Dean Unglert Undergoes Stem Cell & Exosome Therapy at Axis Stem Cell Institute in Seattle

Dean Unglert, a former โ€œBacheloretteโ€ and โ€œBachelor in Paradiseโ€ contestant and travel enthusiast, recently visited Axis Stem Cell Institute for stem cell and exosome therapy after a serious skiing accident in Switzerland. After a femoral fracture-dislocation, surgery to repair the damage, and five days spent in the hospital, Dean embarked on a lengthy recovery and began looking at options for regenerative medicine and ways to improve the healing process after a traumatic injury. AXIS founder and provider Bryn Renda states โ€œ we are pleased to have partnered with Dean and provide the best inย stem cell therapies for a smooth and successful recovery process for him .โ€

Sports Injuries and How Stem Cells Can Help

For patients who experience traumatic injuries and require surgery, stem cells can be an important part of the recovery process. In Deanโ€™s case, a femoral fracture-dislocation resulted in two separate parts of the femoral bone that needed to be brought back together with surgery. Bone marrow-derived stem cells combined with exosomes can be an effective way to create a more complete tissue repair and shortened healing time. In some cases, if recovery doesnโ€™t go as planned, the healing process can result in tissue that doesnโ€™t regenerate or heal completely, causing concerns like arthritis or pain. For Deanโ€™s active lifestyle, stem cell therapy was an integral piece to his therapy plan in making sure he could get back to his active lifestyle.

What Was Treatment Like?

For Deanโ€™s fracture, bone marrow-derived stem cells were injected into the bone to promote healing of the two broken parts that had been internally fixated in surgery. Cells were also injected into the joint
capsule to heal torn cartilage and prevent arthritis, and around the connective tissues of the hip that suffered damage during the dislocation injury. Overall, this promoted regeneration of the cartilage,
bone, and surrounding tissues with the help of exosomes which can help modulate inflammation and stimulate stem cell activity. This process can be helpful for both acute sports injuries and chronic degenerative conditions. Axis Stem Cell Institute specializes in both sports medicine and orthopedic conditions, commonly treating many joints including knees, shoulders, and hips.

Whatโ€™s the Timeline for Sports Injury Treatments?

When it comes to injuries, itโ€™s important to know that the quicker the injury is addressed and repaired with stem cell therapy, the better results youโ€™ll see. In many cases, stem cells can be used to treat pain from injuries and reduce the need for surgery or medication, so itโ€™s important to opt for stem cell therapy before opting for surgery. However, if surgery is necessary, stem cells can be used both before and after your operation to boost healing and reduce downtime. In Deanโ€™s case, it was roughly six months between surgery and a sky diving trip to celebrate, which is tremendous. Read more about his experience with our team on his blog.

NFL Hall of Fame Star Chooses Stem Cell Therapy

Walter Jones, who played for the Seattle Seahawks for 12 years, recently underwent stem cell therapy at Axis Stem Cell Institute. As a result of three surgeries for injuries to his shoulder as well as a microfracture to his left knee, Jones experienced significant arthritis pain despite having been retired from the NFL for nine years. In order to relieve this pain and allow Jones to return to an active lifestyle, he chose to receive stem cell therapy and was pleased with the results.

Choosing Adipose-Derived
Stem Cell Therapy

In order to treat Jonesโ€™ pain, the Axis Stem Cell Institute recommended adipose-derived stem cell therapy. This method was selected because as we age, the concentration of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) is retained within adipose, or fat, tissues, while the number within bone marrow declines. If a patient has adequate fat available, this method is generally preferred.

Once the stem cells have been sourced, they are suspended in platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which has increased growth factors and enhances the results of the therapy. This solution is then injected into the needed areaโ€”in Jonesโ€™ case, into the shoulder and knee.

Pairing Stem Cell Therapy
with Vitamin IV

In addition to adipose-derived stem cells and PRP, Jones received vitamin IV therapy. This helps to heal injury and boost overall health in a number of ways. Vitamin IV therapy ensures that the body receives the nutrients you need to grow new tissue and maintain good health. The process helps to repair collagen and reduce inflammation and is overall chosen for patients like Jones because it encourages effective stem cell function.

Typically, IV therapy while addressing an injury would include vitamin C and amino acids. However, each patient receives a custom formula to meet their unique nutrition needs.

When Can Patients like Walter Jones Expect Results?

After stem cell therapy, most patients see results about 3-6 months after they receive injections. Stem cell therapy works by encouraging new tissues to grow, which takes time. Bryn Renda, PA-C, explains that the treatment is like โ€œlaying seed down on the dirt. Itโ€™s going to take some time and TLCโ€ฆafter a few months, you will have a nice, lush field.โ€ In Jonesโ€™ case, arthritic pain is the result of a lack of cartilage, which further damages tissues and causes inflammation and a lack of joint space. Injecting stem cells and PRP into the joint encourages the growth of new, organic cartilage, but it takes several months for this to occur.

Schedule a Consultation

Stem cell therapy can be beneficial for a wide number of patients, especially those facing pain after a sports injury. To learn more about your options regarding this therapeutic approach, schedule a consultation with Axis Stem Cell Institute in Seattle, Washington. Natural Remedies to Boost Immunity

In light of the COVID-19 virus, many people are seeking ways to boost their immunity in addition to protecting themselves through CDC recommendations like social distancing, wearing masks, and washing their hands thoroughly. While natural remedies arenโ€™t a cure for the virus, there are many steps you can take to naturally strengthen your immune system to help prevent you from ever acquiring it. Your immune system is the bodyโ€™s natural defense against illness but supporting and strengthening it through proven supplements can boost your ability to stay healthy and recover from illness faster.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is usually the first supplement that people think of when they look to improve their immune system. Vitamin C is beneficial for the body in several ways. It promotes the growth and function of immune cells called phagocytes and lymphocytes. Vitamin C also inhibits the growth of neuraminidase, an enzyme that prevents some pathogenic viruses and bacteria from being trapped in the mucus, the bodies’ first and best line of defense. By inhibiting neuraminidase growth, Vitamin C helps the bodyโ€™s natural defense mechanism of trapping and flushing within the mucus to be more effective. Vitamin C also supports the epithelial barrier in blocking the absorption of pathogens and promotes the antioxidant scavenging activity of the skin, which boosts your protection against environmental oxidants and additional stress on the skin and immune system. This amazing vitamin supplement can improve and support collagen repair and elastin production, which allows for healthier and more beautiful skin.

Zinc

Zinc can help reduce the length of a cold if you do get sick and is a good addition to help you avoid getting sick in the first place. Like Vitamin C, Zinc can help to reduce inflammation. Specifically, zinc is an antioxidant, protecting the body from damage due to free radicals, and stabilizes membranes. Inflammation is a natural immune response, and zinc can help to ensure this process remains stable and functional, rather than causing damage to your cells.

Thieves oil

Thieves oil is an essential oil blend that contains cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, and rosemary. Many people swear by thievesโ€™ oil as an immunity booster, and the essential oil has a natural antimicrobial quality. Thieves oil can be diffused into the air to kill bacteria, and the aroma has an energizing and uplifting effect. Studies have also shown that thievesโ€™ oil can improve wound healing and pain relief. If you are ill, thieves oil can help relieve nasal and sinus congestion and is believed to promote respiratory and cardiovascular health.

Holy basil

Holy basil is commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine and is well-known for its ability to reduce inflammation as well as its effectiveness in treating colds, flues, and similar ailments. Holy basil has been found to increase cytokines, which are proteins that work with the immune system. All
parts of the holy basil plant act as an adaptogen, which is a substance that helps the body adapt to stress. Holy basil is also called Tulsi, and in addition to supporting the immune system, it can be used to balance your mood and reduce drowsiness.

Where can I find good quality supplements?

Good quality supplements are an effective way to boost your immunity and improve your overall health, but not all supplements are created equal. The Axis Wellness Store offers a wide variety of high-quality supplements. If youโ€™re unsure of where to start, the Axis Wellness Store offers an Immunity Bundle of three key supplements.

This bundle includes Zinc-Zyme, Super B12, and X-Viromin, a supplement that can offer immune support through a variety of helpful and healthy ingredients, including licorice extracts, lemon balm extract, and pomegranate fruit extract. It is also a good source of nutrients like zinc, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

Who Should Use Supplements?

Supplements and homeopathic remedies have a wide range of uses, and almost any patient can benefit from some sort of supplement. Itโ€™s best to consult with a medical professional about which supplements will best support your health. Supplements are best used by those who are looking to increase their overall wellness, but if you have any serious health concerns, itโ€™s best to consult with your doctor about your care plan.

The Benefits of Detoxification

Youโ€™ve probably heard a lot about detoxification, whether from friends or online. It can seem like one of those trendy ideas that doesnโ€™t hold much water, but itโ€™s important to know that thereโ€™s more to it than you might think. Detoxification can be a great lifestyle change and a great way to promote wellness, whether in tandem with stem cell therapy or not. Hereโ€™s what to know about detoxification and its benefits.

What is Detoxification?

Toxicity in your body can manifest in a variety of ways like hormone imbalance, obesity, poor mental health, fatigue, metabolic syndrome, and difficulty sleeping. This happens as a natural result of exposure to the increasingly toxic environment that we live in that includes things like microplastics and harmful endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Detoxification, then, helps support the natural systems in the body that help rid us of these materials. This usually means getting the right vitamins, minerals, and supplements into your body through your diet and supporting it through exercise.

What are the Benefits?

Detoxification can help your body work more effectively to protect itself from environmental damage and optimize its important systems. Here are some of the benefits.

Support Your Metabolic System

Weight management and digestive health can be infinitely more difficult when your body has to fight against outside factors. Proper metabolic function is the key to managing your weight and helping your body absorb the nutrients it needs through diet.

Reduce Inflammation

Inflammation can be responsible for many different chronic conditions in the body, and certain toxins and chemicals can make this worse. Eating a well-rounded diet can help reduce inflammation, leading to relief without relying on medications and pills.ย

Improve Skin and Hair

Your skin is just as susceptible to free radical damage as the rest of your body. Although you can protect it with sunscreen and the right skincare regimen, supporting it from within is just as important. Additionally, dull or thinned hair can sometimes be a sign of stress and poor health. Your skin and hair can sometimes be a reflection of diet and environmental damage, meaning clear and healthy skin and hair starts with a better lifestyle!

Boost Energy Levels

Most people feel tired and sluggish from time to time, but when itโ€™s a regular occurrence, it can be a sign of poor performance from your body. Excess toxins can make it difficult to get the rest and nutrition you need even when you have a healthy lifestyle.

Strengthen Your Immune System

Your immune system is an extremely complex network consisting of multiple systems devoted to protecting your body from outside invaders. When it doesnโ€™t work as it should, it can leave you vulnerable and feeling unwell. Optimizing your metabolic and lymphatic systems can mean your body gets what it needs to function and can effectively get rid of the things that harm it.

Optimize Mental Health

Accumulated toxins can drastically affect your mental state and mood. This can negatively affect all aspects of your life, from your sleeping patterns to relationships to the ability to think clearly. Since your emotional health is directly tied to your gut health, itโ€™s extremely important to make sure your body gets a well-rounded diet and exercise.

7 Health Hacks to Get You Through the Holiday Season

If youโ€™ve been working hard on your health this year, then itโ€™s normal to be a little worried about maintaining your good habits as the holidays approach. Although holiday gatherings can be a blast, they are unfortunately closely associated with unhealthy eating and drinking. The winter months can make it difficult to stay on top of your health, so here are some ways to keep on track through the end of the year.

Curb the Carbs

Winter holidays especially seem to attract sweet, tasty desserts chock full of carbohydrates. Although your body needs carbs, itโ€™s extremely important to eat as few refined carbs as possible. Itโ€™s okay to indulge in a little bit of your favorite seasonal desserts but be sure to keep track of your intake and also opt for healthier carbs like fruit or root vegetables when theyโ€™re available. Especially during meals, fill up on protein, fiber, and healthy fats before you reach for the pie and cookies. Try portioning out your plate where half the plate consists of veggies while the two remaining quarters consist of protein and gluten-free grains.

Pop Probiotics

Your digestive tract is home to an elaborate system of bacteria and organisms that work hard to ensure your body has the energy it needs from the food you eat. When your diet changes drastically, your gut may need some help. Probiotics can aid in digestion and even help sustain your good mood by regulating your gut health (which is intrinsically tied to things like the production of feel-good hormones!) Probiotics can be bought at pharmacies and you can begin taking them before your holiday engagements to support your digestive system in the days to come.

Include Intermittent Fasting

One way to help watch your weight and insulin levels is by introducing periods of fasting into your daily or weekly schedule (most experts recommend periods of sixteen hours or more). Intermittent fasting comes with a number of benefits including reducing calorie intake and ensuring your body burns existing fat as energy by lowering insulin levels. If you havenโ€™t already started doing this, introduce it gradually before you fast before big meals during the holidays so youโ€™re not overwhelmed. And make sure to break your fast with healthy fiber and fats rather than carbs! A big dose of sugar after fasting can spike your blood sugar and contribute to bloating.

BYOD (Bring Your Own Dish)

If youโ€™ve got your pick of the litter when it comes to bringing a dish to pass, then make sure itโ€™s healthy and nutritious! Offer to bring a green veggie or other healthy option to ensure you have something to fill up on instead of other less-healthy options. If youโ€™re tasked with bringing a dessert, consider a dish based on healthy fruits and natural sugars rather than refined ones. Volunteering to bring a dish can be a great way to have control over what goes into it and ensure thereโ€™s at least one healthy option!

Stay Active

When the weather gets colder, itโ€™s tempting to stay inside rather than going for a walk or run to burn off the holiday calories. If youโ€™d rather not bundle up, look for great indoor activities to put on your schedule like yoga, bodyweight training, or time on your exercise machine. And rememberโ€” you canโ€™t outrun a poor diet, so keep an eye on your eating habits if youโ€™re hoping to maintain your weight!

Slow Down

It can be tempting to chow down during your favorite holiday feasts, but youโ€™ll need to pace yourself if you want to avoid overeating. If you eat too much too fast, it can be easy to leave your calorie limit behind and become uncomfortably full. To slow down, try sipping at your drink between bites or even just put your fork down and engage in some conversation before resuming. This allows your body to receive the signals from your stomach that youโ€™re full in time for you to stop.

Combat SAD

Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a common accompaniment to winter for many people. Itโ€™s often the result of less sunlight and, in turn, Vitamin D. If youโ€™re sensitive to SAD, try taking Vitamin D supplements during the winter months as well as Magnesium. Additionally, invest in a special sun lamp and spend some time in front of it each day to make sure youโ€™re feeling your best for the holidays. And donโ€™t skimp on exerciseโ€” this can have a hugely positive effect on your mood too!

The holidays donโ€™t have to reverse your progress if youโ€™ve been making great strides in your healthy routine this year. At Axis Stem Cell Institute, we can help optimize your healthy habits so you can be your best self. To learn more, contact our Kirkland office by calling, texting, or filling out our online form.

Why Stem Cells and Chiropractic Care Go Hand-in-Hand

Whether youโ€™ve ever been to a chiropractor or not, it might surprise you to learn that chiropractic care and stem cells can be a powerful combinationโ€” especially when it comes to pain management and injury recovery. If youโ€™re considering your options with either stem cells and chiropractic care, itโ€™s important to know your options and how you can benefit from both. Hereโ€™s what to know.

What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic is a field of alternative care that focuses on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems through manual techniques. It often overlaps with other practices like osteopathy and physical therapy to address many different areas of the body where you might experience pain and discomfort because of misalignment of the musculoskeletal system and spine (called vertebral subluxation). Although chiropractors are not medical doctors (like your regular physician), they still undergo extensive doctorate programs and clinical training to become a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC).

How Is It Similar to Stem Cells?

Stem cell therapy and chiropractic care share many of the same goals and underlying methods. For instance, both operate on the idea that the body is self-healing and can bring itself back into its natural state with the right guidance. Additionally, both share the goal of reducing inflammation which contributes to pain and discomfort in certain areas of the body. Inflammation (whether because of an underlying condition or misalignment of the spine and musculoskeletal system) puts undue pressure on the nervous system and causes the pain of varying degrees. Finally, both practices share the overall goal of a healthier outlook and positive lifestyle choices so you can live your best lifeโ€” without a costly and intensive regimen of medications and pills.

How Can I Benefit from Both?

There are many different ways that a combination approach can help. The most common therapeutic approach for sports injuries and musculoskeletal pain includes a process where stem cells are injected to regenerate damaged tissues while chiropractic care can provide relief and reduce pressure on different points of the body. However, there are many other ways that you can benefit from a combination approach by our stem cell experts and chiropractic partners like aligning the spine for healthy fluid movement, as well as craniosacral adjustments that allow for a connection between brain, body, and gut. Additionally, a chiropractor has expertise in myofascial release and other modalities that allow stem cells to work at their highest capacity for effective healing.

Chronic Pain by The Numbers: What to Know and What to Do About It

Itโ€™s important to know that youโ€™re not alone when it comes to chronic pain. In fact, according to a report in 2018 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some estimates about the number of adults nationwide who suffer from chronic pain range from 11-40%. Additionally, the report states that around 8% of adults in the U.S. suffer from a more specific classification called high-impact chronic pain, or pain that means you canโ€™t maintain your daily activities.

Unfortunately, modern medicine still has a long way to go when it comes to managing chronic pain in ways that donโ€™t involve a regimen of pills and high cost. Stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine have shown promise where traditional treatment methods donโ€™t, so letโ€™s look at some of the most common forms of chronic pain and how stem cells can help.

Osteoarthritis

One study estimates that about 27 million adults in the U.S. suffer from osteoarthritis, sometimes called degenerative arthritis. Unlike some other types of arthritis, osteoarthritis can come with constant pain that doesnโ€™t resolve even when staying still. This makes it one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. The pain often stems from degeneration of the jointโ€™s soft tissues which normally allow the bones to glide and move. When these tissues degenerate, the bones move against each other. Without treatment, osteoarthritis can become worse.

Stem Cell therapy has shown effectiveness in regenerating the important tissues of the joints, treating the underlying causes rather than focusing solely on pain management. For the 27 million adults in the U.S. who experience difficulty going about daily activities because of degenerative joint pain, stem cells can have huge potential.

Chronic Back Pain

Lower back pain is experienced by almost 80% of adults at some point in their lives. In fact, itโ€™s one of the leading causes of missed work days and job-related disability. For some people, it can be sharp and suddenly debilitating, while for others it can be dull and constantly throbbing. Chronic back pain is often defined as lasting for 12 weeks or longer, even after the initial injury or cause subsides. There are a range of causes, from sprains and strains to spinal disc concerns to pinched nerves. Unfortunately, all of these factors can drastically limit your activity level and donโ€™t have many options outside of pain medications.

Whether the result of nerve damage, tissue degeneration, or inflammation, stem cells are an effective option to regenerate tissues and relieve pain. This means you can get back to the things you love with long-term results.

Fibromyalgia

Itโ€™s estimated that about 5 million people in the U.S. suffer from fibromyalgia and is classified as one of the most common chronic pain conditions. This condition is complex and not well understood, but it manifests as chronic pain and other debilitating symptoms that can require a life-long battle. Because itโ€™s thought to be caused by misunderstandings by the brain and nerves during everyday sensations like touch or pressure, there are few options for treatment outside of managing pain.

Stem cells have shown promise when it comes to decreasing chronic pain by reducing inflammation and regenerating important tissues like nerves. It is also important to understand that there is an underlying cause of Fibromyalgia that many standard physicians donโ€™t search for. For patients with fibromyalgia who experience regular pain and associated symptoms, relief with stem cells can be life-changing.
